Song Xanh Sampan Cruise

Your journey starts from Phu An Jetty at 10:00 am. Begin with a bicycle ride around this remote countryside area, ending up at Le Longanier Restaurant. Lunch is served in this exquisite colonial-style villa set in a lush tropical garden by the river. 

After lunch, start your leisurely cruise on the Delta’s beautiful waterways, with stops along the way to explore local cottage industries that provide a living for the river people. Before arriving at Sa Dec, visit a traditional brick factory where everything is made by hand. 

Arriving at Sa Dec, step ashore and stroll to the outdoor market. Visit the historic house of the real-life character in the acclaimed novel and film “The Lover” by Marguerite Duras. Dinner is served at a local house. The owner welcomes you and a candlelit dinner is served in this authentic environment. Enjoy your first night on board the Song Xanh on the Mekong River.

Breakfast is served on board while you cruise towards Long Xuyen along a narrow canal, passing several scenic monkey bridges. 

After enjoying lunch on board, arrive in Long Xuyen to visit Tiger Island, birthplace of Vietnam’s second president. Return to the sampan for dinner and resume your cruise towards Chau Doc. 

Your boat sails until approximately 22:00 before anchoring for the night. Overnight on board.

Breakfast is served on board while your sampan cruises towards Chau Doc. Close to the border with Cambodia, Chau Doc is the gateway to Phnom Penh. Known throughout Vietnam for its pagodas and temples, Chau Doc is also famous for the Tra Su Bird Sanctuary, a superb eucalyptus mangrove. 

Disembark at Victoria Chau Doc private pier at approximately 10:00. Tour ends.

At 08:00, we will be met at the lobby of our hotel in Saigon. We transfer to Cai Be (transportation is NOT INCLUDED in the cabin price).

Before arriving at Sa Dec, stop to visit a traditional pottery factory where everything is made by hand. 

Dinner is served on board. Enjoy your first night on board Song Xanh on the Mekong River.

After breakfast served on board step ashore and take a stroll to the outdoor market.Visit the historic house of the real-life character in the novel and film The Lover by Marguerite Duras. Back on board cruise down towards Can Tho along a narrow canal, passing several monkey bridges. Lunch is served on board, before getting ashore for a visit to a Cao Dai Temple. Take a trip on small rowing sampan to explore the small armlets. 

Your last stopover before sunset is at an ancient house, a “Nha Co” dating back to the 19th Century where a candlelit dinner will be served. 

After dinner return on board while your Song Xanh continues its cruise towards Can Tho. Overnight on board.

At around 06:00, your sampan will slowly start cruising. Your breakfast will be served on board at 07:00 while approaching Cai Rang Floating Market actually still the largest in the whole Mekong Delta. 

Breakfast is served on board while the Song Xanh navigates towards the market among local barges laden with fruit and vegetables. Be sure to have your camera ready! Later on, cruise towards Victoria Can Tho and disembark at the hotel’s private jetty around 10:00. 

Transfer back to Ho Chi Minh City.

Begin cruising from Phu An Jetty at 10:00. From the sampan, you can observe life as it plays out on shore - people doing their daily activities among the picturesque landscapes - while your attentive crew serves tea and seasonal fruit. Before arriving at Sa Dec, stop at various points along the river for a look into some of the cottage industries of the region including a pottery factory where everything is made by hand, pass by monkey bridges and tiny villages to visit a Cao Dai temple. 

Arrive in Sa Dec and stroll to the outdoor market. Visit one of the highlights of the charming town, the ancient house of Huynh Thuy Le, a real-life character in the celebrated novel and film “The Lover” by Marguerite Duras. 

Lunch is served on board while cruising towards Can Tho along a narrow canal teeming with life. Explore the countryside surroundings by local rowboat. Your last stopover before sunset is at an ancient house (a “Nha Co” in Vietnamese), dating back to the 19th century. The owner will welcome you and a candlelit dinner is served in this authentic countryside setting. 

After dinner return on board while the Song Xanh continues its cruise towards the Hau River. Overnight on board.

Wake up early at 06.00 for a visit to the famous Cai Rang Floating Market which operates daily starting from 05.00.

Breakfast is served on board while the Song Xanh navigates towards the market among local barges loaded down with fruits and vegetables from the Delta, making for some stunning photos. 

Continue cruising towards Victoria Can Tho and disembark at the hotel’s private jetty.
